Holtek is pleased to announce the release of its new HT45R5x 12-bit resolution 20-channel A/D device range series, composed of the HT45R52 and HT45R54 devices. The HT45R52 contains 2K x 15 of program memory, 192 x 8 of data memory, up to 18 I/O lines and a 12-bit resolution A/D with up to 12 channels. The HT45R54 contains 4K x 15 of program memory, 384 x 8 of data memory, up to 26 I/O lines and a 12-bit resolution A/D with up to 20 channels. Each device includes an internal Operational Amplifier, a combined SPI and I²C communication interface further enlarging the application area diversity.

The devices include a choice of system oscillators, which can consist of an external high frequency crystal oscillator, low frequency external crystal (32KHz) oscillator, external RC oscillator or a fully internal accurate RC oscillator with a fixed 4MHz, 8MHz or 12MHz frequency. Dynamic fast/low oscillator switching and a fast wake-up feature enhance the oscillator functions further for maximum system clock flexibility. Additional functions include a 12-bit PWM generator having up four channels as well as a PFD function. This high level of functional integration in the HT45R5x series ensure customers can implement their applications with a minimum of external components and reduced PCB areas, resulting in lower product costs. The devices should find suitable applications in the home appliance area in products such as switching power supplies, inductive cookers, electric blankets, electric hobs, washing machines, dish dryers and multi-functional battery chargers etc.

To support these new devices, Holtek supplies a full suite of hardware and software tools which include an in-circuit emulator, device writer, Windows based software development system environment (known as the HT-IDE3000) complete with functions such as hardware breakpoints with logical setups, full trace analysis facilities etc. making sure that users have their designs up and running as fast as possible.

As is the case with other 8-bit Holtek MCUs, this new series of devices, with its excellent noise immunity, internal watchdog timer and LVR functions are well protected against malfunction. The HT45R52 is supplied in a 20-pin DIP/SOP package while the HT45R54 is supplied in 20-pin DIP/SOP and 24/28-pin SKDIP/SOP package types.
