Manufacturing technology orders in the U.S. totaled $435.02 million in October, according to the U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) report published by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. That represented a 10.2 percent jump from September but a 3.2 percent drop when compared with October 2012′s volume of $449.44 million. The year-to-date orders total of $3.94 billion is 10 percent behind than last year’s pace.
“October’s order growth, combined with the latest [purchasing managers index] reading, is added reinforcement that manufacturing is continuing on its positive trend,” said Doug Woods, president of AMT. “We expect more good news headed into 2014, especially as domestic energy costs continue to drop and as key industry segments show solid growth, particularly automotive.”
